Through some witchcraft which I will never understand, the forces at GoDaddy were able to restore CriminalShift.com to working order just in time for Christmas. Sorry if our downtime inconvenienced you.
Merry Christmas,
Douglas, Will, Ryan, Matt, Hannah, Hunter, and everyone else who has played with Criminal Shift ever…Steven, Jon.
First off, thanks to everyone who voted online for us all of last week. You were a great help and you rock for sitting at your computer clicking and refreshing for hours on end.
For those not in the know, we performed on Wednesday the 25th at Trees in Dallas and it was most definitely the greatest Criminal Shift show to date. Thanks to the hoard of people who showed their support by coming to the show and voting for us at the club! We had a great time playing with The Primary and Giggle Party. Both of ‘em put on great sets and we were really excited to get to meet everyone in each of those bands.
I think that by now you understand that we won and will pass on to round 2 of the competition for the opening slot at Edgefest 2010.
Sam Greer rocks and took a bunch of absolutely phenomenal pictures at the show. Here are a couple of my favorites:
Ryan Prim filled in on the drums and did a great job.
We’ll definitely update with more info when we have it.
P.S. Just confirmed a show for January 8th at Eisenberg’s!
Hey guys. As you all hopefully know by now, we’re playing at Trees this Wednesday. We want your support so come out and see us! Doors open at 7. This show determines whether we open Edgefest 2010. We need the most amount of votes to win. If you come to our show, that’s 100 votes! Also, you can vote online until Thursday here:
#mce_temp_url# (sorry for the weird link. I’m a wordpress newbie)
You can vote as many times as you want, just keep refreshing the page and vote again. The voting is on the right side of the page, I know some people were saying that they didn’t see where to vote.
Please vote! We need your help in securing the most votes. So come out to the show on Wednesday, and vote daily (or hourly, or minutely) for your friendly neighborhood Spiderman band.
So we finally got a chance last weekend to truly christen our new rehearsal space over at Will’s house. Saturday night we loaded all of our equipment into the garage and ordered a pizza and recorded. We didn’t have a ton of time, but we finished tracking one song: Jack. If you’ve been able to see Criminal Shift live in the past 6 months or so you’ve probably heard us play Jack. So here it is, all edited to the point of being sorta presentable. Enjoy.
Tonight we were able to play at The Door Plano and we had a great time. Met some really cool people and played a pretty solid set in spite of the technical difficulties which seem to be plaguing our performances this month. I think this calls for more duct tape.
If you weren’t able to make it to The Door Plano you should definitely go to our show Wednesday, November 25 (right before Thanksgiving) at Trees on Elm St. in Dallas. It’s a free show put on by The Edge (102.1) and Giggle Party is playing so you know it’ll be really cool. We’re quite excited by this show because it gives us a chance to open Edgefest 2010! So, please have your pre-Turkey Day rock-out and come see us play a kickin’ set.
I’ve been listening through all my old demos in an effort to piece together a comprehensive portfolio of my recording and songwriting experiences for college. I dug up one of the first songs I ever recorded. I still play it live. It’s called Snow.

Be on the lookout for information on upcoming shows.
Oct 24 – Granbury, TX – Pearl St. Music Festival
Nov 6 – Plano, TX – Eisenberg’s Skate Park (BOTB to play with Craig Owens of Chiodos)
It’s about time I updated. We had a couple of great shows in mid-September. We played a venue in Dallas called Live@Mokah with our friends Look Mexico and The King Crabs, and it was great. There were about 5 people there, but we had a great time. The next evening we headed out to Granbury, TX for another small show at one of our favorite places to play, Studio 216. Thanks to all the people who came to these shows and those who helped make them happen.
Hope everyone who’s started school/college back up is doing well. School’s been keeping us all busy. Almost busy enough to neglect the website, but not quite.
If you haven’t seen Criminal Shift in a while it’s time you made it out to see us at one of our upcoming shows:
September 18 – w/ Look Mexico @ Live@Mokah, Dallas, TX
September 19 – w/ The Canvas Waiting @ Studio 216, Granbury, TX
October 24 – Pearl Street Music Festival, Granbury, TX
In other news Criminal Shift continued Criminal Shift tradition: we lost another member. Hannah had to go off to college, and we wish her all the best of luck. Her farewell party was awesome, we’re glad so many people could come. Hopefully she’ll come back on breaks.
If you find that your clothes are out of date and threadbare, head on over to our online store (criminalshift.bigcartel.com) and pick up some shirts and CDs!
I’ll be sure to check in soon when there’s more to update about.
Criminal Shift announces two shows for this fall, both in Granbury, Texas.
September 19 @ Studio 216 w/ The Canvas Waiting
October 24 @ Pearl Street Music Festival w/ Telegraph Canyon and a bunch of others.
Please note, October 24 is a 20 band event for FREE. Please come and support it.
We plan on broadcasting tomorrow’s rehearsal live via internet. Click on “Cshift TV” around 1:30 Central time to tune in. Er, today’s rehearsal. It’s late.
